As aManufacturing Engineer,you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Taking ownership of multiple manufacturing lines and products, a part of the Personal Care department within the Extrusion Tapes and Ceramics Value Stream.
  • Initiating and leading projects that result in continuous improvement of Product and Process Understanding (PPU), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and machine Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Being on-call during off shift production hours and potentially responding by being in the plant during off shift time as needed from the production team.
  • Owning products that span the entire product life cycle, from New Product Introduction (NPIs), to scale up, mature products, and even end of life products.
  • Leading Lean Six Sigma projects and Kaizen events focused on improvement of process control plans to ensure products are manufactured at peak performance in alignment with customer requirement.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Science or Engineering (completed and verified prior to start) from accredited institution.
  • Five (5) years of manufacturing experience within a production plant setting in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Good statistical background with knowledge of Lean/Six-Sigma methodologies
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Experience servicing customer needs.
  • Demonstrated results driving projects/initiatives related to product quality improvement, unit cost modeling, and cost reduction projects
  • Demonstrated results leading product improvement projects
  • Experience leading or participating on cross functional teams, especially across multiple sites or divisions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong communication skills both verbal and written, analytical and organizational skills to manage different priorities
  • Experience generating and supporting capital improvement projects from idea to implementation
