In this role you’ll assist and manage a variety of capital improvement projects for our client utilizing your project management experience. Typical projects range from $1M - $50M, with opportunities of larger capital developments as their programmed ($250M - $1B). The work includes supporting the Project Manager who’s acting as a single point of contact for projects throughout the planning, budgeting, design, review, construction, and inspection processes; monitoring project costs ensuring projects meet budget constraints; updating and ensuring the project stays on schedule and that the schedule is regularly briefed with the client; and ensuring that the project contractors complete the scope of the project within specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Perform project site walk regularly
- Review RFIs and submittals as needed to resolve issues
- Provide oversight and coordinate the work occurring in the existing hospital
- Assist in the construction contract change order process
- Attend meetings and document meeting minutes and action items
- Support Project Controls team in disseminating, tracking, and reviewing the overall change management plans for programmatic and construction budget/costs
- Assist in maintaining and updating budgets and reporting
- Support Project Controls team in schedule review and analysis.
- Assist in developing project monthly and weekly status reports
- Prepare monthly client invoices
- Review and process vendor invoices for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare, track, review, and enter data and information into client’s PMCS, e-Builder
- Assist and oversee QAQC, including punch list and closeout
- Bachelor of Science in Architecture an Engineering discipline or Construction Management
- 3+ years of experience as an Assistant Project Manager in an Architectural, Engineering or Construction organization
- Strong working knowledge of contract management, programming, design, pre-construction, project delivery methods, change management, schedule and budget oversight, safety planning and oversight, quality assurance, risk management, building systems/components and technology, and experience in a client facing relationship
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, and Microsoft Project), and some level of experience using industry Project Management Control Systems (PMCS), preferably eBuilder
- Willing and able to work full-time at the client's location in the West Side Medical District and/or their Oak Park location
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
- Certified Construction Manager (CCM), DBIA Professional, Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect license/certification (AIA)
- U.S. healthcare facility or other medical facility construction experience
- Certified Healthcare Constructor and Infection Control (ASHE)
- Experience in capital project improvement and development program management
- Lean Construction applications and techniques

Essential Functions:
Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
