Responsibilities involve development of both Passive, Adaptive and Active systems and cross functional relationships multiple departments as Chassis, Powertrain, Controls and more.
What You’ll Do
Work closely with the Vehicle Dynamics team to ensure correct integration between hardware and software controls to achieve the correct balance between other attributes as Ride, Steering, Efficiency
Work closely with the firmware team to set requirements for the high-level control strategies in line with our Attributes and Firmware Roadmap
Be the Subject Matter Expert for Handling, meaning that you’ll be responsible for both subjective and objective characterization on top of actual firmware calibration
Perform drive assessments and necessary firmware tuning in collaboration with our firmware team
Define handling metrics and objective maneuvers, plus contribute to developing data post-processing routines and pass/fail criteria accordingly
Contribute to control strategies development for chassis and powertrain impacting the Attribute
Contribute to the HMI Roadmap for handling and generic mode differentiation
Generate reports of development activities and complete performance Sign-Off for hardware and firmware releases
Manage a small team of engineers to develop ensure program deadlines are achieved
What You’ll Bring
10 + years of experience in automotive development
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Physics or equivalent experience
Direct calibration experience in most of the following systems (Traction Control, VDC, ABS, Brake Steer, Rear Wheel Steer, All Wheel Drive, Torque Vectoring, Electronic limited slip differential, Active Front Steering, Active Aero)
Good understanding of model-based control
Subjective vehicle performance evaluation both below and above the adhesion limit
Subjective vehicle performance evaluation at very high speed and in all surface condition (snow, wet, dry, off-road)
Vehicle instrumentation and data analysis
Objective handling characterization
Very good knowledge of common calibration tools such as Vector Canape
