Design, develop and validate future individual parts and modules within Apple products in the home space. Engage in initial architecture planning, 3D CAD and 2D drawings. Define and complete critical Tolerance Analysis to ensure successful Mass Production assembly, cross-functional management of system modules design and integration, vendor and manufacturer communication and support to develop all required fixtures and processes. Design parts with a broad range of manufacturing processes for metals, plastics and soft goods. Run critical Design of Experiments (DOE) to ensure open engineering options can be validated in meaningful and technically sound ways to down select final. International Travel Required 10%. 40 hours/week.   • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • One year of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • One year of experience with each of the following skills is required:
  • Mechanics of Materials, Heat Transfer and Mechanism design.
  • Product design, from initial concept to product architecture development, including system layout, module integration considerations, material selection and Injection Molding, Die-Casting and Stamping manufacturing methods.
  • 2D Design Drawing for manufacturing including datuming, traditional and GD&T conforming to ASME standards.
  • Metrology equipment experience, including analyzing and interpreting FAI & CPK measurements.
  • Design and manufacturing of PCB, FPCB and assemblies including stackup, DFM considerations, and system integration.
  • Tolerance Analysis through Worst Case, RSS or Monte Carlo simulation, including analysis of uses, benefits and drawbacks.
  • Manufacturing Design of Experiments to understand contributing or controlling design factors including Partial, Full Factorial and 2k Factorial.
  • Utilizing JMP or Minitab for statistical analysis.
  • Prototyping design and fabrication, including hands-on experience with material selection, 3DP, CNC, Lathe, Fabrics, PSA, HAF and assembly with hands-tools and custom designed fixtures.
  • Finite Element Analysis for single part and small part quantity assemblies for design validation and assembly loading optimization.
  • Soft Goods product design, assembly and general handling for mass production, including experience with benefits and limitations for cosmetic, acoustic, sealing and packaging uses.
