The Finance Accounting Sr. Analyst is a seasoned professional role. Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and work-flow for the area or function. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams. Involved in coaching and training of new recruits Significant impact in terms of project size, geography, etc. by influencing decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual.

  • This is a lead Analyst role for Citi Treasury Investments (CTI) P&L and Balance Sheet Reporting team within Treasury Controllers


Responsibilities:

  • Production and oversight on certain ASC 815 / FAS 133 Hedge Accounting programs which includes daily and monthly reporting within Corporate Treasury and CTI
  • Supports the management and control data flows to and within Finance applications to ensure integrity and completeness of data, including by preparing and recording financial transactions for legal vehicle and regulatory reporting purposes, updating the general ledger, recording financial transactions, and preparing of consolidated financial statements, in accordance with management reporting requirements, for legal vehicle & regulatory purposes.
  • Identify and appropriately highlight / escalate potential issues related to hedge accounting with stakeholders such as CTI desks, Business unit managers (BUM) / Country controllers / Global process lead (GPL) and Global process owner (GPO) and work with them for resolution.
  • Provides advice on directional strategy by analyzing subject matter and its application in own job and the business.
  • Acts as a technical expert who acts as an advisor on significant business/product decisions.
  • Takes responsibility for the accurate reporting of accounting reconciliations on Citi reporting tools.
  • Reviews and examines key controls for accounting process across multiple processes being handled.
  • Focuses on the implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Applies in-depth understanding of concepts and procedures within own area and advanced knowledge of other areas to resolve issues that have impact beyond own area.
  • Demonstrates an advanced understanding of how multiple processes collectively integrate to contribute to achieving business goals.
  • Persuades and influences others through strong communication and diplomacy skills.
  • Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
  • Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
  • Acts as SME to senior stakeholders and /or other team members.
  • Appropriately assesses risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of accounting/finance work experience
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a rapidly changing environment
  • Control focused mind-set with strong process improvement capabilities
  • Knowledge of derivative and/or bond products a plus, but not required
  • CPA preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related field of study; Master's degree preferred
