The Tax Senior Analyst is a seasoned professional role. Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge, contributing to the development of new techniques and the improvement of processes and work-flow for the area or function. Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area. Requires in-depth understanding of how areas collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the function and overall business. Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information. Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams. Involved in coaching and training of new recruits Significant impact in terms of project size, geography, etc. by influencing decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization. Work and performance of all teams in the area are directly affected by the performance of the individual.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for the overall management of the tax liabilities, of Citi, both directly and in connection with transactions with clients, including the related compliance, financial reporting, planning and controversy processes.
  • Contributes to the planning, accounting, filing and the reporting of tax liability of the company.
  • Assists in determining and compiling information required to satisfy income tax filing and related requirements at all levels of jurisdiction.
  • May participate in managing payments to tax authorities in compliance with specific tax regulations.
  • Resolves complex problems or transactions, where expertise is required to interpret policies, guidelines or processes.
  • Manages one or more processes, reports, procedures or products, and considered analytical or procedural "expert" representing a unit or team on cross-function process or project deliverables.
  • Directs day-to-day work of junior level employees.
  • Has the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision.
  • Can exercise independence of judgement and autonomy.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

What we'll need from you:

  • Extensive experience in similar role.
  • Experience in US tax documentation (solicitation, validation, retention and BAU support)
  • Work with the team to ensure completion of regulatory U.S. information reporting and withholding processes for relevant institutional businesses (US Section 1441 Regulations, Chapter 61, Qualified Intermediary Regulations)
  • Support Technology projects from a tax technical perspective and perform UAT testing
  • Be a liaison to business areas as well as other Operations areas with regard to U.S. tax withholding and reporting queries
  • Build strong working relationships with various areas (Asset Servicing, IT, Front Office, Legal, Corporate Tax) in order to ensure that we can move forward and deliver optimum results, mitigate risk and enhance control thereby leading to greater revenue opportunities
  • Support audits by tax authorities and Internal Audit
  • Perform reviews of written tax policy and procedures, research and respond to inquiries from operational areas
  • Bachelors degree.
