The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Data Automation and Controls Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Deploying and maintenance of software systems that integrate with the upper-level manufacturing and business data systems and the lower-level control systems used to manufacture 3M products
  • Working with process engineers and controls engineers to understand problems and assess the need for smart manufacturing solutions
  • Determining gaps and expand high-level troubleshooting capabilities to provide tactical support for day-to-day manufacturing operations
  • Supports key transformational programs: Pacesetter (Factory of the Future, Business Transformation, Data Analytics, Connected/Digital Factory), Total Productive Maintenance, Equipment Reliability, Process Safety Management Technology
  • Providing effective control system solutions to a variety of new and existing automated process equipment

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Two (2) combined years of experience working with machine process control system design and commissioning in a private, public, government, or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience with: Savigent Workflow Software, SEEQ, OSiPi, UI development, database skills with SQL scripts and stored procedures, SQL reporting tools skills, with Rockwell Automation -ControlLogix/CompactLogixPLCs, PC HMI’s, PanelView, AVEVA Intouch HMI and Historian programming, Variable Speed Drive, flow, pressure, level, and temperature instrumentation installation and programming, sensor technology, software, and data generation
  • Industrial control systems design and install experience, including safety circuits
  • Experience with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems
  • Passion and experience in SMART manufacturing systems, data automation, Industry 4.0
