This position is responsible for leading a team and activities supporting maintenance of production equipment, central utilities and facilities systems in compliance with all regulatory requirements, company policies and site procedures. The position ensures technicians have the tools, resources and training needed and works closely with cross functional departments such as Operations, EHS, MS&T, Supply Chain, and Quality.

How you’ll spend your day

• Responsible for the daily management and development of direct reports.
• Responsible for overseeing maintenance, proper operation and compliance of production equipment, central utilities and facilities systems.
• Responsible for overseeing scheduled and unscheduled equipment and facilities maintenance needs such as regular maintenance, trouble shooting and breakdowns and ensuring that downtime is minimal.
• Responsible for managing and reporting site metrics related to equipment and facilities.
• Responsible for providing technical expertise and project support as needed including interfacing with vendors and contractors and participating in the design and detailed engineering new processes and equipment.
• Responsible for evaluating work in progress and resolving production, quality, equipment and other issues by working with appropriate departments and making real-time decisions in response to unexpected events.
• Responsible for writing, reviewing and/or approving Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, etc. required to operate in appropriate area.
• Responsible for leading/assisting with investigations into anomalies and results that do not meet expected results.
• Responsible for understanding, maintaining, and operating within cGMP guidelines, government agency regulations (eg, EPA, OSHA, DEA, FDA) and company’s Standard Operating Procedures.
• Responsible for completing all training requirements and maintaining compliance with all assignments.
• Responsible for maintaining work areas and performing job functions in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Batch Record instructions.
• Responsible for performing additional related duties as assigned.


Your experience and qualifications

Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position will be considered.

Education/Certification/Experience:
• BS/BA degree in Engineering related discipline or equivalent and/or HVAC license.
• Minimum 10 years relevant progressive experience in mechanical maintenance, facilities and engineering functions.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment within pharmaceutical, medical device or nutraceutical industries is preferred.
• Requires at least 3 years in supervisory or leadership role, managing non-exempt employees and contractors.
• Requires experience with and understanding of equipment controls, troubleshooting of machine systems and the installation and ongoing support of production equipment.
• Requires facility equipment experience (BMS, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, chiller, boiler, air compressor and other utility systems).
• Knowledge of cGMP and other applicable industry regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, DEA, EPA, etc.) as they relate to the production of pharmaceutical products and associated quality systems.
• Predictive maintenance and reliability maintenance experience a plus.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
• Computer proficiency with comprehensive working knowledge of MS Office products, Learning Management Systems (LMS), ERP system such as SAP or Oracle and manufacturing/quality systems such as Trackwise, Livelink and Qdocs.
• Self-directed with ability to organize and prioritize work.
• Ability to motivate, influence and lead others with and/or without direct supervisory authority.
• Ability to positively manage conflict, provide difficult feedback and negotiate resolution.
• Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships between teams, departments and business units.

• Project management and advanced presentation skills preferred.
