What You’ll Be Doing:
- Under general supervision repairs, installs, maintains, and tests industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronic controls, such as motors, transformers, wiring, switches, and alarm systems, used for the generation, distribution and utilization of electric energy in an industrial establishment, in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations (equipment includes 45 to 800 ton multi-level compacting and coining presses and grinding and sintering processes
- Installs, calibrates, operates and ensures the proper maintenance of Programmable Logic Controls for manufacturing equipment according to technical manuals and verbal and written instructions
- Locates, determines and diagnoses electrical malfunctions in the plant and repairs
- Develops and conducts preventative maintenance programs and keeps maintenance records
- Tests electrical equipment for safety and efficiency
- Inspects circuits and wiring for appropriate shielding and grounding
- May rewind or make major repairs to motors
- Prepare purchase orders or requisitions
- Press appreciation projects (repairs and rebuilds) will be a key focus
- Support plant major breakdowns and repairs as needed
- Other related duties as required
- Ensures all work complies with Safety Standards and all Applicable codes
- Ensure the requirements of the Quality Management System, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 are conformed to
- Adheres to Johnson Electric’s policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Electrical/Electrical(Electronic) trade certification
- 2 - 3 years of manufacturing experience required, preferably in the automotive industry
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) essential
- Ideal candidate has powder metal experience with presses, grinding, and sintering,
- Independent and self-motivated troubleshooter and problem solver.
Technical & Skill Requirements:
- Specific knowledge and experience with pneumatics, 40 to 500 ton metal stamping presses (single or triple platen), grinding processes, and heat treatment processes
- Knowledge of Microsoft office suite, EAM Computerized Maintenance Management System and other computerized systems is an asset.
- Must possess a good understanding of safety practices as mandated under the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Knowledge of Cincinnati, Dorst, and SMS presses is preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT (including Physical Demands):
- Exposure to noise, heights, confined spaces, poor lighting conditions, material, products and by-products associated with the manufacturing of powered metal components, exposure to metal working fluids, temperatures, and weather extremes that require the use of specialized protective devices, clothing or equipment
- Required to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding to access elevations, able to crouch for periods of time, push, pull, lift, and turn while carrying tools, material and equipment in various parts of the facility. Excessive walking. Operate material handling equipment including cranes, lift trucks chain hoists etc.
- Willing to work overtime
- Continental 12 hour shift rotation of days and nights
- Travel between plants as needed on projects or support needed at each plan
- Home location is Ancaster but travel will be required to Mississauga and Stratford
- Ability to travel preferred. Travel will be reimbursed as per JE Travel policies (use of own vehicle)
- Project and support requirements may include afternoon or nights shifts and weekends.
