Develop 2D factory layouts in collaboration with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firms. Familiar with finishing processes, conveyance strategy, and the overall understanding of material flow plans for the factory
Work collaboratively to develop a utility matrix and create 2D layouts for the positioning of equipment and utilities. Devise cost-effective 2D layout solutions for optimized part presentation and sustainability
Partner with the packaging and material flow team to innovate cost-effective 2D layout solutions that optimize part presentation, increase packing density, and enhance sustainability for both automated and manual loading/unloading processes
Progress from 2D/3D layout solutions to developing a 3D factory simulation to accurately visualize and improve the manufacturing process and material flow
Design manufacturing equipment including safety gear, jigs, fixtures, and skids
Issue RFQs for equipment production or procurement with detailed specifications
Lead equipment design review sessions and guide vendors to meet operational and safety standards
Lead cross-functional collaboration and build relationships across the organization, including coordination with other process, equipment, mechanical, electrical and support disciplines
Lead product design for manufacturability (DFM) and sustainability, including risk analysis, FMEA, and cost steering
Manage large-scale projects, including development of timing plans, risk identification, and project status reporting
What You’ll Bring
5 or more years of experience in a technology-based industry, where automated methods are utilized in the finishing/coating of consumer products
Hands-on experience with the development of functional and aesthetic finishing process layouts, material flow, and conveyance & factory simulation for automotive paint or powder coating
Utilizing factory simulation software (Process Simulate, FlexSim, Simul8, Digital Twin, WinMod, Iphysics) to plan, analyze, and optimize manufacturing processes
Experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Revit (SolidWorks, Inventor, or Catia are preferred)
Proficient in the development and deployment of PFMEAs
Knowledge of automated equipment systems and tools (robotic, vision, material handling, Conveyors, PLC, HMI, etc.)
Travel required 25%
Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience
