Key Responsibilities

Performs a variety of routine electro-mechanical assembly operations, troubleshooting and repair. Adjusts, aligns and/or performs "go-no go" tests using test fixtures or non-diagnostic electronic testing devices. Identifies and corrects errors. Retests.

Applies skills to wire, assemble, test, troubleshoot, and calibrate equipment and sub assemblies. Makes own set-ups, alignments and adjustments, maintaining tolerance according to instructions. Disassembles, modifies, reworks, refurbishes, reassembles and tests units as required. Follows basic work orders, schematics, wiring diagrams, sketches, assembly shop and production operations sheets, parts and wire lists, written and/or verbal instructions to construct electro-mechanical, vacuum and/or pneumatic assemblies, subassemblies and components.

Maintains a secure, safe, clean and healthy work environment. Attends required health and safety training, and follows safety and security policies, procedures and practices. Promptly reports accidents, injuries, safety hazards, or emergencies to supervisor or Safety department. Follows operating instructions, uses protective equipment when required, and uses equipment and materials properly. Actively strives to prevent accidents and injuries.

Records basic data and provides status updates. Utilizes standard hand tools and fixtures for precise locating and positioning of parts. Typical tasks include connecting components or assemblies into housings, panels or chassis. Mounts and adjusts switches, springs, clamps, shafts, interconnecting devices, terminals, wiring harness ends, gears, nobs, tubing, fitting belts, chains, timers, motors, pumps, etc. Cuts wire to specific sizes, strips tins or binds wire parts, connect component lead wires and wiring harness ends to specified terminal points. Identifies defective parts.

Maintains cleanliness of work area and ensures proper handling of tools, equipment and stock to prevent loss or injury. Details finished work by removing fingerprints, etc. and then properly packages to prevent damage in transportation or storage.

Performs other duties and/or completes training as required by Supervisor.

NOTE; Duties for this and all Assembler levels are generically defined to describe job functions with similar skill levels. Area supervision has responsibility for defining and communicating those duties which apply to specific job functions within this classification.

Other Requirements:This is a physically demanding position that often requires standing for extended periods of time, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, the ability to distinguish between colors, the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise, the use of hand and power tools, and driving or operating heavy machinery including forklifts.

Additionally, because this position may involve working in a clean room, the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields may be required.
