In this role, you will own capabilities that champion how customers interact with our service, including API development, storage and streaming optimizations, and compressing the genomic data. You will also get an opportunity to support a greenfield customer experience to simplify how population health researchers design and discover new drug therapies with genomic data.Key job responsibilities
- Designing distributed systems for high-volume ( PBs) genomic data processing.
- Implementing robust APIs for data ingestion and streaming.
- Developing compression algorithms to store cold data
- Optimizing system performance and cost-efficiency at scale. This involves engineering solutions for global scalability, multi-language support, and seamless integration with AWS infrastructure.A day in the life
- Define design documents to solve ambiguous problems.- Investigate and troubleshoot difficult issues with distributed data storage and streaming
- Review designs and code changes
- Offer architectural guidance to junior engineers on design best practices and operational lessons
- Address product or design stakeholder questions and advise on technical implement trade-offs and effort estimates
- Triage, investigate, and fix top-priority production issues during on-call rotations

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Working knowledge of the genomics or bioinformatics space
