Support PCBA EE component selection, crosses and qualification to make sure that they meet the product design specifications an commercial requirements
Manage the Approved Component List (ACL) in compliance with the Approved Vendor List (AVL) defined by the SCM organization. Bridge between design engineering and supply chain by influencing engineering component selection to be in alignment with SCM strategy
Assist Design Engineers in selecting, qualifying, approving and documenting release of new components on PLM system. Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) / Change Actions (CAs) to document all changes to components at a Tesla Part Number (TPN), Manufacturing Part Number (MPN) and Bill of Materials (BOM) level
For custom products, partner with SCMs and Engineers to develop Product Requirements Document (PRD) and lead the activity to communize specs / footprint across multiple suppliers during the Request for Proposal process with the aim of
Tesla owning specifications for a custom product tailored to Tesla’s needs
Enabling multi-sourcing for critical semiconductor components
Develop and drive “plan for every part” (PFEP) strategy for SCM team when exiting suppliers to ensure all golden screw components and dependencies are removed from the existing supply chain (New product design, sustaining and service) prior to official exit / ban
Manage Product Change Notifications (PCNs) and End of Life (EOL) approvals. Develop checklist / process and ensure appropriate checks are implemented (e.g. line trials) when any changes in manufacturing process / materials / tests are proposed by the supplier. Identify and surface opportunities for value engineering and proactively push for Product Change Request (PCR) that would benefit Tesla’s cost structure or quality
Participate in developing the knowledge base of the global semiconductor industry, including materials, certifications, manufacturers, technologies, processes, and products. Partner with SCMs and SIEs to develop database for documenting key component information (e.g. RFP, DFM, DFMEA, PFMEA, Test FMEA, PPAP, Material Declaration, AECQ-100, Functional Safety …etc); Ensure key information / insights are accessible and query-able
