Data Analyst – Supervising Associate

As a Supervising Associate, you will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting and analysis on partner data, such as headcount, organization, and compensation results. Your role will require frequent interaction with executive partners of the firm. You will maintain our partnership database by manipulating, loading, and validating data from various internal environments for the eventual use in year-end reporting of partner earnings data to the executive board. By analyzing data, you will uncover issues, determine root causes, and recommend corrections to management. You will also create and test complex reports to meet user specifications.

Your key responsibilities

  • Manage and organize partner earnings and organizational changes.
  • Assist in developing enhancements, functionality, testing and administration of the Partnership Allocation Recommendation System (PARS).
  • Assist in Global adhoc reporting and Partner Earnings process
  • Help create earnings forecast (utilizing data from other areas within finance) to determine the earnings pool allocated to partners.
  • Identify any ongoing issues that affect financial reporting.
  • Prepare results of analytical review and communicate findings verbally or via email to executive leaders of the firm.
  • Interpret requests for ad hoc reports or financial information and consult with internal and external EY personnel to verify or provide information.
  • Communicate with external contacts and internal personnel, to resolve open issues.
  • Consult and train other members of the staff on reporting and analysis tools, as appropriate.
  • Become familiar with Partner and firm data structures and databases and begin to develop proficiency in analyzing data elements.
  • Analyze operating results to determine overall practice profitability. Understand how changes in the firm and/or structure will impact reporting and operating results
  • Assist in the development and/or updating of complex financial models in Excel. Analyze data results and communicate them to management
  • Manipulate PowerPoint presentations for management. Prepare information to be included in external reporting.
  • Prepare complex financial reporting for internal client management.
  • Responsible for maintaining back up files and ensure file organization.
  • Develop and enhance new and existing procedures to ensure efficiencies.

This role will require you to leverage your technical expertise and communication skills to solve complex problems and articulate solutions. You will constantly communicate verbally and in writing, with various team members and leaders throughout the organization in a concise and clear way. You will be expected to exhibit a can-do attitude, approach changes with an open mind, and demonstrate initiative, commitment, and drive.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Minimum 5 years of related business, information systems or related experience involving data analysis.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, or related degree or equivalent work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel to include strong experience with formulas, V lookup and Pivot tables
  • Knowledge of MS Access with experience using queries to extract data
  • Basic knowledge of PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and delegation skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Demonstrated poise and confidence when interacting with top management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact daily with executive level partners.
  • Ability to work extra hours during reporting deadlines

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience in SQL Queries and Business Objects
  • Ability to create Excel macros
  • Experience managing and leading projects involving sensitive and confidential data
  • Ability to work from a New York tri-state area office when needed

What we offer

The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $75,500 to $137,000. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $90,600 to $155,700. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
