Job Summary

located inBuffalo Grove, IL.

Reporting to thesupports automation engineering services activities including high speed assembly equipment and manufacturing systems.Develops and implements automated manufacturing systems at the Buffalo Grove site.


What a typical day looks like:

  • Maintain continuous system operation by adjusting, repairing, replacing, or modifying automation/robotic system components
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and components and return to serviceability
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance actions on all subsystems and related components
  • Ensure preventative maintenance of robotic and process support equipment are completed on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Understanding of PLCs
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical diagrams including complex automated system drawings.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team in the qualification process of automated systems.
  • Proper use of power tools and measuring equipment
  • Take leadershipof equipment projects
  • Develop equipment requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct equipment design reviews and provide design guidance to suppliers.
  • Manage equipment suppliers through all phases of projects.
  • Lead project team comprised of manufacturing engineers, quality engineers and machine technicians.
  • Provide on-site support at equipment suppliers’ sites during machine build, debug andtesting/qualification.
  • Supervise installation and testing to verify requirements and specifications are met.
  • Draft qualification protocols and manage equipment qualification activities.
  • Attend customer meetings at all level of discussions, getting customer inputs and presenting Flex manufacturing solutions, etc.
  • Interface with customers, suppliers, and functional owners to coordinate project activities and remediate project issues .Document equipment issues and propose robust solutions
  • Development of preventative andpredictive maintenance procedures
  • Provide ongoing manufacturing support as a top level SME.Useofadvancedproblem-solvingtechniques to address issues with machines and processes
  • Support creation ofengineering documentationrequiredto implement changes and improvements
  • Excellentverbal and written skills
  • Supportthetraininganddevelopmentofothertechnicians
  • Support validation activities for new equipment and equipment updates
  • Provide ongoing manufacturing support
  • Strong awareness of safety

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of complex manufacturing equipment.
  • Minimum10yearsrelatedexperiencein atechnology-basedindustry, where automatedassembly techniques areequipment isutilized.
  • Industrial Engineering experience working in high-volume assembly processes.
  • Knowledge of automated equipment systems and tools - robotics, vision, material handling, Conveyors, PLC, HMI, Pick-Place-Pack, Inspection/Test. (Structural and Non-Contact e.g. Laser), Application of lasers e.g. Etching/Marking, Dispense process, plastics welding and joining.
  • Experience working in manufacturing of medical products highly desirable.
