We are currently seeking an exceptional individual to fill the role of International Tax Director within Palo Alto Networks' Tax team. In this pivotal position, you will play a critical role in building and designing the team and priorities, assume the lead of strategic projects, manage US International provision compliance and reporting, and provide invaluable support for our tax planning initiatives. The International Tax Director will possess profound expertise in US regulations and requirements, exhibit a thorough understanding of relevant tax laws, and offer guidance on tax legislation and developments on a global scale.
Your Impact
The International Tax Director will work with the tax team leadership to ensure compliance with tax regulations and optimize the company's global tax position. Here are some key responsibilities for this role:
- Overall responsibility for E&P calculations, Subpart F, FDII and GILTI inclusions, foreign tax credit and similar calculations for tax compliance and annual/quarterly tax provision purposes
- Playing a key role in the leadership of the Global Tax organization by advising and providing guidance and input on various organizational matters and strategic organization design
- Overall responsibility for U.S. international compliance forms, including Forms 5471, 8858, 8990, 8991, 8992, 8993, 1118 etc., using CorpTax International, as well as related disclosures
- Building, leading, developing and mentoring a strong performing team of tax professionals
- Performs technical tax review and approval of all tax returns in a timely manner to meet deadlines
- Proficiency in global planning and reporting for Pillar Two, Global Minimum Tax regime
- Working collaboratively with our transfer pricing director and team to effectuate international tax planning, compliance and reporting
- Review of customer contracts, working with our legal team, etc.
- Consultation and oversight regarding Treasury initiatives, investment and cash management policies
- Writing technical and non-technical tax research and compliance memos
- Assisting our People team with issues related to global mobility issues for Company’s executives working in locations other than their home jurisdiction
- Keep current on developments in global tax that may affect our business, including monitoring and analyzing tax legislation and participating in modeling different scenarios
- Engage in special projects, including tax planning, mergers and acquisitions and corporate initiatives, as needed
- Contribute to the design and implementation of automated tools to drive efficiency/process improvements for provision and tax return preparation
- Serves as a subject matter expert and demonstrates excellence in the most advanced technical skills to file accurate returns
- Monitor international areas to identify and mitigate potential tax exposure, including compliance with all aspects of ASC 740.10 (FIN 48) for such international tax matters
Your Experience
- At least 15 years of progressive tax compliance and reporting experience in Big 4 and in US multinational corporate tax departments in the Tech Industry - This includes preparing, reviewing, and managing international tax compliance/reporting and international tax planning. CPA, LLM or JD is desirable
- US international tax experience with a US-headquartered multinational corporation, well-versed in ASC740 principles, and an understanding of international and transfer pricing concepts
- Excellent knowledge of federal income taxation of international operations and transactions
- Proficient in Excel modeling and experience working through large data sets, Knowledge of Table Structure and Pivot Tables
- Strong project management skills
- Tax preparation software experience helpful to aid in review (Corptax international tax compliance software)
- Proven level of accuracy and willingness to roll up sleeves for processes and numbers details.
- Organized, self-motivated and cooperative attitude
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills and able to work with minimal supervision

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $180,200yr to $291,500yr.
