:
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation, filing, and payment of sales/use, gross receipts, personal property, GST, VAT, etc. throughout the region.
- Work closely with our Indirect Tax Advisory team to monitor, analyze and evaluate indirect tax law changes impacting PayPal.
- Partner with our third-party compliance service providers to review/approve tax filings, identify process improvements and make updates as appropriate.
- Partner with Shared Service to provide accurate, reconciled data to our compliance service providers, ensure on-time tax payments and manage all aspects of VAT accounting.
- Collaborate with other indirect tax compliance colleagues globally to drive standardized, efficient and effective processes.
- Monitor ERP and tax engine output to ensure that results are accurate. Partner with Advisory and IT to resolve any issues.
- Identify and implement process enhancements and automation opportunities to improve the efficiency of indirect tax reporting.
- Build strong relationships with Tax Advisory and key cross-functional partners in Shared Service, IT, Accounts Payable and Accounting to improve and maintain indirect tax business process requirements.
- Support Tax Advisory audit management efforts by providing audit-ready files and related documentation as needed.
- Develop plans and strategies to identify and mitigate indirect tax compliance risks and optimize opportunities.
- Respond to any notices received in a timely manner and proactively address any administrative updates, such as license renewals.
- Ensure that file archives are maintained in accordance with PayPal’s document retention policies.
What do you need to bring:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Law or a related field from an accredited institution.
- 8+ years of progressive indirect tax compliance experience at Big 4 public accounting firms and / or large, multinational corporations.
- Thorough understanding of indirect tax compliance requirements across Americas jurisdictions.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Strong command of English.
- Excellent written, oral and presentation skills.
- The ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to non-tax audiences.
- Proficiency with SAP ECC or S/4 Hana.
Preferred:
- Certified Public Accountant certification
- Experience with tax engine functionality, ideally OneSource.
- Experience with tax reporting tools and automation software.
- Fintech industry experience.
- Other languages a plus
