Position Title: Sr. Substation Automation and Protection Engineer

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 40 Hours/ Week

Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, or a related field and Six (6) years of experience in job offered or as a Power Systems Engineer, Test Engineer, or an acceptable alternate occupation. Alternate accepted requirements Master’s in Electrical Engineering, or a related field and Four (4) years’ experience. The position requires experience in power systems protection engineering field (Six (6) years’ experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 4 years’ experience with a Master’s Degree). Position requires experience with the following: Ability to read and fully understand DC and AC schematics, three- and one-line diagrams for Medium and/or High Voltage substations systems; Knowledge of Siemens, GE, SEL or ABB relay products and associated software; Applied knowledge of Medium Voltage Protection (eg; Overcurrent / Over-Undervoltage; Transformer Differential ;Motor Protection; High and Low Impedance Busbar Differential; Generator Protection; MV transfer schemes and reverse interlocking schemes); Communication Network Technologies, including Design, Configuration, and troubleshooting of ethernet switches for protection applications such as IEC-61850 GOOSE applications; experience with Siemens protection engineering software such as DIGSI 4 and DIGSI 5, IEC61850 System Configurator, SIGRA, SIPROTEC Tools and the ability to use those to implement protection systems in the US according to customers specifications and standards; Implementation of logics using CFC based on Logic Diagrams or Functional Design Specification; Ability to understand protection settings documentation provided by SCAFF study and implement and test those using Siemens Relays.
