The person hired for the position of
Manufacturing Technology Injection Molding Specialist

• Assemble comprehensive company-wide strategies for Injection Molding. This includes best practices, capital and resource needs, improvement plans and standardization.
• Initiate and drive relevant process developments in support of the 3M’s injection molding processes in collaboration with other 3M engineers and development teams.
• Drive safety and ergonomic improvements in our processes through process changes, technology and robotics.
• Develop new methods for data collection, analysis, and feedback for critical to quality parameters of molded components.
• Partnering with product development teams across 3M to rapidly test, prototype and scale-up products.
• Support 3M sourcing teams in determining strategies for make vs. buy and selecting strategic partnerships.
• Develop and coordinate experimental runs in the pilot plants and manufacturing facilities to drive improvements in yield, quality, OEE and cost reduction for 3M.
• Travel to manufacturing locations and vendors, when needed, to provide experiment coverage, consultation, knowledge transfer, troubleshooting, or training.

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Master's Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
• Ten (10) years of manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment
• Five (5) years of experience in injection molding operations

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Bachelor's degree in Plastics or Molding Engineering
• Ten (10) years of experience in Injection Molding, Polymer Processing or Extrusion in a private, public, government or military environment
• Expert knowledge and experience in production management, lean manufacturing and materials control
• Strong Communication and Change Management skills
