Apply electrical and electronic theory to design, build, adjust, and modify Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), such as electronic variable message boards, wrong way driver detection, Surveillance technology video management platforms, and Electronic Access Control hardware. Other systems include, avionics, mechanical, and communications systems. Previous experience includes supporting hardware and software integration, requirements development, verification, validation, and testing. Coordinating and leading site visits with clients to develop existing conditions reports, provide recommendations, that include commercial, railroad, transit, highway, and airport locations. As well as identify opportunities for improvement and enhance the site’s functionality. A valid driver’s license is required for site visits on short notice for on-call services. Provide subject matter expertise on the operation, installation, modification, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Intelligent Transportation Systems. Attend ITS conferences and workshops to stay in touch with leading manufacturers in this industry and stay up to date with the latest technologies. Compile, process, and analyze test data results. Additionally, have experience in traffic management systems design and implementation, along with a solid understanding of electronic data processing, information technology, data analytics, AI/ML, and network communications systems.
REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field and 2 years of work experience in the Systems Engineering related occupation. In Lieu of the requirements listed above, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field and 3 years of work experience in the Systems Engineering related occupation.
SPECIFIC SKILLS: Expertise/ knowledge of: Knowledge of Transportation Communications and Security Systems Architecture and be able to optimize it. Control System design such as SCADA systems. AutoCAD, REVIT, MicroStation, MS Project, Microsoft Visio. Performing analysis, troubleshooting, systems design and testing validations and verifications. Calculating project costs and understanding prepare/negotiate contracts. Lifecycle Management, such as managing maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements in transportation.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or pass Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam.
