Develop manufacturing equipment and fixtures to support early-stage prototype builds
Determine and procure equipment that is necessary for all manufacturing processes used to build the product
Conceptual equipment development and carefully balance product specifications, process requirements, layout complexity, cost, and lead-time limits
Work with equipment integrators to design and manufacture equipment and fixtures for medium to high-volume production
Determine layout of production workstations for product flow, ergonomics, and efficiency
Provide DFM (design for manufacturability) input to design team for process and yield improvements
Support building, debugging, validation and equipment duplication efforts, and fine-tune equipment for release to production
Conduct detailed testing and validation of installed machinery to ensure robustness and quality
Perform on-site and off-site acceptance testing (SAT/FAT) of equipment
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
What You’ll Bring
2+ years of experience as Mechanical/Mechatronics/Automation Engineer with focus in automation, machine design, robotics, and product development
Experience using 2D CAD tools for conceptual line design (AutoCAD) and 3D design for mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling (SolidWorks or CATIA)
Experience transitioning products and processes from prototype to production
Experience with conveyance, transducer-based fastening systems, robotic systems (prefer Fanuc)
Experience creating technical specifications for automated manufacturing equipment
Experience providing Design for Manufacturability and Automation
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field, or equivalent experience
