Engineering Supervisor

- Technical Contributions . Initiates and completes technical activities leading to new or improved products or processes which have significant impact potential. Maintains awareness of scientific/product opportunities and takes initiative to suggest/test ideas. Suggests changes or future direction as needed. Develops extensive knowledge of statistical techniques for monitoring and improving manufacturing processes. Improves upon these skills through regular participation in appropriate activities.
- Leadership . Supervises and directs direct reports with planning and execution of their assigned tasks and projects. Monitors progress and evaluates completed assignments to confirm use of correct procedures and to evaluate quality of work.
- Intellectual Property . Has an awareness of implications of intellectual property on the process(es). Provides appropriate and timely documentation of work as required by the business unit.
- Strategic Planning . Identifies, recommends, initiates, and implements programs in manufacturing area of responsibility to improve and/or enhance: 1) product cost, service, and quality, and 2) process safety and health/environmental impact. Participates in project planning.
- Interaction . Establishes and cultivates a network of support (laboratory, quality, manufacturing, engineering, sales, and marketing) to facilitate completion of assignments.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
A 2-3 yeartechnical/vocational/tradeschool degree in a specific field or bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in an engineering or science discipline from an accredited university or college.
One (1) year of manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Three (3) years of manufacturing engineering experience
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
Working knowledge of SolidWorks CAD software
Experience in a machine shop environment
