Apple Camera Metrology Engineer

You will be responsible for the full spectrum of the lifecycle of camera and measurement system development - from prototyping to deployment. You will work closely with the Camera Design group to define calibration and test scenarios, and design high precision instrumentation & systems to be able to perform this effectively in both laboratory and factory.
  • Cooperate with cross functional and multidisciplinary teams to specify camera FMEA risk, develop and deploy calibration and performance validations stations to reduce camera product risks throughout the NPI cycle
  • Work with equipment vendors to design the perfect equipment from scratch for calibrating and verifying the performance of Apple products
  • Specify and acquire instruments, components and tools for use in an NPI environment
  • Run simulations or experiments to make data driven decisions and present results to senior management
  • Design, develop, debug and optimize algorithms to meet with accuracy and precision requirement for camera calibration and performance verification
  • Generate reports that analyze large amounts of NPI camera performance data, and present at both working level and executive level meetings
  • Up to 10% domestic and international traveling
  • MS in CS/EE/Imaging/Physics/Optics/AppliedMath
  • Knowledge in one of the following: camera calibration, lidar or other depth sensor, computer vision, image processing, AI/ML, optical instrumentation
  • Sufficient programming experience in at least one of Matlab/Python/C++ languages
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills, with native fluency in Mandarin-Chinese and proficiency in English.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative, highly multi-functional and fast pace environment.
  • PhD in CS/EE/Imaging/Physics/Optics/AppliedMath
  • Deep knowledge in two or more of the following: camera calibration, lidar or other depth sensor, computer vision, image processing, AI/ML, optical instrumentation
  • Proficient algorithm and coding skills in either one of Matlab/Python/C++ languages
  • Metrology system development experience
  • Experience of developing AI, data mining or machine learning driven system/projects
  • Strong problem solving capability
