Under general supervision, the Material Handler I performs various functions related to receiving, processing, shipping customer orders and managing inventory. The Material Handler I works in one or more various work group areas, as assigned – inbound, outbound, picking, packing, sorter, replenishments, inventory control, DEA control cage & vault and refrigerated storage areas. Time spent in any area may vary by day-to-day business requirements.

How you’ll spend your day
  • Utilizes radio frequency (RF) system and operates fork-lift to receive and put-away inbound (IB) receipts - includes physically breaking down and creating optimal sized pallets prior to put-away into inventory
  • Utilizes RF system and operates fork-lift to move inventory throughout the warehouse for the purpose of managing inventory and replenishing picking locations
  • Performs tote picks via tote management system (Pick-to-light module) - includes deployment of totes on PTL module, using PTL module to accurately pick orders from shelf to tote
  • Performs tote auditing / packing functions via warehouse management system (WMS), packing equipment and packing materials
  • Performs full carton picks via WMS generated picking labels - consists of ensuring properly matching pick labels to product, affixing labels to cartons and placing cartons on conveyor belt
  • Performs duties related to sorter activity - consists of moving from lane to lane to clear cartons from sort lanes to pallet, affixing labels and packing slips, shrink wrapping pallets, etc.
  • Utilizes RF system and operates fork-lift to load pallets on trucks for outbound (OB) shipments, as well as creating appropriate shipping documents via WMS system
  • Performs all of the above tasks as they pertain to the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) certified control cage and vault areas, as well as performing DEA inventory audits
  • Performs all of the above duties as they pertain to the refrigerated storage areas
  • Performs stock adjustments, cycle count reconciliations and corrects inventory discrepancies
  • Follows Teva Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures.
  • Other duties, as assigned, or as business needs require- i.e. general housekeeping, labeling product, cycle counting via RF system, etc.
Your experience and qualifications

High school diploma or GED plus six months industrial environment experience. Previous warehouse, logistics, distribution, forklift training experience preferred.

Technical

  • Demonstrates a proven track record and the ability to utilize good level of knowledge in more than one work group area to perform various duties related to receiving, processing and shipping customer orders, as well as managing inventory
  • Demonstrates computer literacy
  • Demonstrates good mathematical skills
  • Must have demonstrated the ability to handle forklift associated tasks safely

Specialized or Technical Knowledge Licenses, Certifications needed:Experience with RF technology and WMS system preferred. Must be able to obtain initial certification in the operation of Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) within 90 days. Must be trained and certified on PIT to include rider jacks, forklifts, reach trucks, stock pickers, and turret stock pickers.


Physical Requirements:Regularly required to stand up to 8.0 hrs. Frequently required to walk, climb stairs, stoop, kneel, bend, and or crouch. Frequently lift 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 60 lbs. (Requirement based on heaviest repack configuration for refrigerated repack cartons). Frequently exert up to 60 lbs. of force to push/pull objects or equipment within the distribution center. Specific vision abilities required are a minimum of 20/40 close vision, 20/40 distance vision, peripheral vision of at least 120 degrees combined, normal, and the ability to adjust focus. Must wear his/her corrective lenses, if needed to meet the requirement. Must be able to hear audible alarms and communications. Must be able to work at various heights up to 35 feet within the distribution center while wearing personal fall arrest systems (PFAS). Required to use wrists, hands and fingers to manipulate the controls of the PIT.
