The Alexa Edge AI team under Alexa Ambient Computing Tech Organization is looking for an Applied Science manager with strong leadership skills
and AI expertise. In this role you will lead a group of talented Applied Scientists to develop industry-leading technology with computer vision and multimodal perception models for various edge applications.
Key job responsibilities
As an Applied Science manager, you will bring structure to ambiguous business problems and use science, logic, and practical experience to decompose them into scalable solutions. Your solutions are exemplary in terms of algorithm design, clarity, model structure, efficiency, and extensibility.
You tackle intrinsically hard problems while constantly learning to acquire skills and expertise as needed.You will use your technical acumen to resolve product ambiguities and lend clarity to the solution space. In this role, you will anticipate technical / schedule risks within projects and mitigate them with proactive measures to deliver high quality solutions on time.You will be an excellent mentor to your team members while motivating, rewarding, and coaching them towards their career goals. You will recruit and retain top talent and excel in day-to-day people and performance management tasks.As a manager you will leverage your crisp communication skills and collaborative attitude to build trust with our cross functional partners within various organizations.

- MS/PhD degree in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or related areas.
- Proven track record of shipping computer vision or other AI systems
- 6+ years of Applied research experience
- 3+ years of experience managing scientists
- Excellent communication, and collaboration skills

- Experience building and shipping Computer Vision and Machine Learning solutions for the edge
- Experience with multimodal LLMs including vision language models
- Experience in the field of object detection, scene understanding and recognition applications
