General responsibilities include:
- Act as a consultant in the establishment of design standards and criteria for construction projects.
- Provide on-site field survey measurements and verification including documentation of space, equipment, workflow, required adjacencies, communication and organizational requirements. Provide recommendations based on observations.
- Prepare stacking plans to accommodate functionality and adjacency requirements.
- Prepare blocking plans, schematic or conceptual designs, and design intent drawings in AutoCAD. Ensure drawings comply with Program of Requirements (POR), Campus Design Guides and Construction Standards.
- Perform design reviews and submit comments in required format.
- Manage design of projects throughout the project, from programming to post-occupancy. Includes building and maintaining relationships with end user, local team, subject matter experts, etc
- Perform construction administration duties, such as reviewing and answering RFIs, reviewing submittals, reviewing and producing field reports, walking the site and verifying accuracy and compliance of construction with drawings and POR requirements, participating in creation and closeout of punch-list, and more.
- Maintain knowledge on recent versions of the International Building Code and Commentary (IBC), the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS), and all pertinent federal accessibility standards.
- Collaborate and assist in resolving critical and possibly controversial issues with a multi-disciplined team of architects, engineers, and federal agency clients.
