About the role:

As a R&D Engineer III, you will contribute to our Image Processing & Algorithm Development team. The successful candidate will participate in the design and development of next generation medical devices.

Be a part of Boston Scientific's Interventional Cardiology Therapies R&D team to develop innovative products that sustain and improve the lives of patients around the world. You will use your technical and collaboration skills alongside your passion for innovation to drive growth through efficient and effective development of new products, including a next generation diagnostic imaging platform.

Drive technology evolution into product, with a fast-fail and collaborative approach to product development.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Apply engineering and mathematical principles to develop core technologies, compose algorithm structures and find data driven solutions to problems.
  • Act as a liaison between research and development teams to drive product integration, utilizing your deep understanding of ultrasound, image/signal processing, and PCI workflow.
  • Write invention disclosures for developed algorithms and work with patent attorneys to secure intellectual property.
  • Interact with intervention cardiology customers to understand their needs and formulate them into solvable engineering problems.
  • Performdata annotations, statistical analysis, and simulations to design and test algorithm performance.
  • Document research results in technical reports and present your findings to broader R&D team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or more from accredited school in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biotechnology, Electromechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or related field
  • 4+ years of engineering or related research experience with Bachelor’s degree OR

2+ Years of related engineering or research experience with MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biotechnology, Physics, Mathematics or related major.

  • Experience in Python and Matlab OR C++/C# for image and signal processing.
  • Demonstrated capability to produce innovative solutions for complex technical problems.
  • Personal drive, individual accountability & a strong bias for action.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Onsite at Maple Grove, MN location 3+ days per week minimum

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medical device experience
  • Experience in medical image and signal processing, preferably for ultrasonic imaging products.
  • Experience in machine learning for computer vision.
  • Working knowledge in 3D image visulization, OpenGL/DirectX/Python.
  • Ability to interface effectively with customers to gather insights.
