- Support all aspects of plant operations involving mechanical maintenance by responding to plant service calls under the direction of the maintenance department supervisor and/or the production shift supervisor.
- Ensuring mechanical integrity in the work performed is critical dimension in this job.
- Assignments include maintaining production equipment & plant operations consisting of all process & packaging equipment, as well as basic electrical components. Other assignments include equipment modification & new equipment installation work.
- Utilize the Shop Work Order system to accurately track maintenance costs and for recording status and completion of all work performed.
- Obtain training & certification on plant safety & housekeeping rules, and any mandated corporate or government regulations regarding environmental, safety & health issues.
- Demonstrate safe work methods and practices daily, while working in the professional manner expected of a skilled tradesman.
- Select proper tools & materials for task at hand. Use cutting & burning equipment, and proper rigging equipment when required.
- Use sound troubleshooting techniques to keep plant process equipment up and running efficiently. Lead troubleshooting efforts when necessary. Coordinate other craft resources when required to complete a given task.
- Must be able to be medically qualified to wear respiratory protection. Must be clean-shaven and pass respiratory fit testing. If an accommodation is needed, please see Human Resources.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the followingqualifications:
- Possess a High School Diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
- Minimum of 5 years of machinist experience in Industrial Maintenance in a private, public, government, or military environment
- This is a required 8 hour/daytime Monday-Friday position.
- This position may require working off-shifts. Working overtime, weekends, or holidays as needed
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Qualified applicants will be required to take and pass 3M testing as a part of the selection process
- Basic computer knowledge
- Working knowledge of mechanical power systems & related equipment; including but not limited to the following: gear reducers, pumps, cylinders, piping & plumbing, steam generation systems, hydraulics, etc.
- Knowledge & experience in all types of mechanical tools and related equipment and instruments used in industrial plant applications.
- Must possess normal compliment of mechanical maintenance hand tools.
- Possess sound mechanical troubleshooting skills and demonstrate the ability to diagnose & correct mechanical malfunctions.
- Experience in new construction & major modification work.
- Ability to layout job scope for new equipment installations, equipment modifications, & system upgrades
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well with other people
- Ability and desire to work as a multi-skilled mechanical craftsperson
Pay & Benefits:
- The starting rate of pay for this position is $39.70 – $41.79 with the potential to meet $41.79 after 6 months.
