Aligned to one of our Bay Area offices, you’ll have the opportunity to help our energy, technology, and transportation sector clients to advance their infrastructure programs. Your work and contribution on these programs include assisting with project siting, local, state, and federal permitting, and supporting National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)/California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) compliance. Work will include managing regulatory complexities and permitting for a range of projects, from municipal projects to large infrastructure programs, working with multidisciplinary teams of specialists, and performing both office and field work. You'll be expected to work both independently, as well as part of field teams, depending on project needs. As you progress, your growth and increase in responsibility will be recognized and rewarded with commensurate changes in level and compensation.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

• Collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, planners, and other professionals to assemble regulatory compliant environmental plans, reports, and permits. This includes permitting at the local, state, and federal level.

• Acting as a permitting task lead on projects.

• Preparing scopes of work and estimating level of effort for task completion.

• Maintaining excellent communication with clients, regulatory agencies and local government officials, employees, subcontractors.

Here's what you'll need

• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Planning, Ecology, or similar discipline.

• 6-10 years of environmental consulting emphasizing aquatic resources and permitting experience with demonstrated progressive growth as environmental permitting task lead for complex infrastructure projects or programs.

• Experience permitting at the local, state, and federal level, including but not limited to the following regulatory frameworks/agencies: NEPA/CEQA o Clean Water Act (CWA) Sections 401 and 404 California Fish and Game Code (FGC) Section 1602 California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) Incidental Take Permits U.S Fish and Wildlife (USFWS) Section 7 Consultation California Coastal Commission (CCC) Coastal Development Permits Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) Permits Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Permits

• Experience preparing and reviewing technical reports and/or permit application packages.

• Experience developing and maintaining stakeholder relations, including preparing for and leading external-facing meetings (i.e., client, regulatory official, and subcontractor).

• Demonstrated experience working successfully in a team environment, interest in mentoring staff and inclusive team-building.

• Ability to succeed in a consulting environment, including balancing multiple, fast-paced project assignments and meeting strict deadlines.

• Ability to occasionally work outdoors in adverse conditions, and availability for occasional travel.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

• Master’s degree • Biology and permitting experience in other regions, such as Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, and Hawaii.

• Experience with CEQA permitting through the California Energy Commission (CEC) and/or California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)
