What to Expect

This role will facilitate Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) code compliance at the national, state, and jurisdictional levels by developing and aligning product and regulatory requirements. Given the critical infrastructure and current regulatory fluidity, this role will proactively develop and maintain collaboration with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) to enable a seamless and efficient permit/inspection processes, in addition to market surveillance ensuring continued product compliance.

This is a highly collaborative and cross-functional role that will support both onsite and offsite outreach to undertake field evaluations, training, audits, and incident triage. You’ll develop whitepapers, processes, and procedures to facilitate market access while identifying improvement opportunities.

This position requires a deep level of EVSE code comprehension, excellent communication skills, and technical writing capabilities, with minimal oversight and strong leadership skills.

What You’ll Do
  • Support and manage regulatory deployment requirements for charging products, including national, state, and jurisdictional deviations
  • Proactively develop product and market regulatory literature to support new product introduction
  • Support authorities having jurisdiction with onsite/offsite calibrations, certifications, and audit requirements
  • Develop processes and tools that will aid the continuation of national, state, and jurisdictional collaboration and compliance
  • Proactively collaborate with engineering, product, and deployment teams to ensure EVSE acceptance based on code compliance
  • Develop and conduct training for internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify and drive regulatory KPI’s to continually improve permitting and inspection rates
  • Work with Policy and Compliance teams to address legislative gaps and opportunities
  • Develop and coordinate compliance strategies to streamline new permits/inspections and sustainment processes
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in Engineering or at least 5 years of related work experience in an engineering or equivalent compliance role
  • Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (Primarily Article 625)
  • Good understanding of product standards (UL 2202, UL 2594, UL 2252, UL 2251, UL 9741, UL 2750, and UL 2231-x)
  • Understanding of California/National Type Evaluation Program (CTEP / NTEP), Payment Systems, Metering
  • Knowledge of national building/construction codes
  • Understanding of EVSE Permit and inspection requirements
  • Ability to understand and apply structural, electrical, and mechanical engineering principles as they apply to EVSE
  • Highly proficient with desktop applications such as MS Office, MS Project, Jira or similar, and SQL skills
  • Proficiency in project management with life cycles, agile and project evaluations
  • Willing to travel (international, national, and state)
