Recruit new business and key partners to outfit and sell adidas products directly to the athletic department, establishing a one-stop shop for athletic departments and their equipment needs within territory.
Manage select number of NCAA properties with the purpose of servicing all sports/teams with their team apparel/embellished apparel, headwear, hardgoods, custom uniform and footwear needs.
Build equity for the brand and position yourself as Brand Ambassador in the area and territory; requiring one to visit each campus at least once a year to ‘sell-in’ product lines
Create an ‘all in’ environment and engage athletic administrators, equipment staff and coaches to buy into the adidas product lines, marketing and key product innovations.
Maintain regular & effective communication with university while building relationships with institutions, equipment managers, athletes, coaches and athletic directors in the territory.
Reach annual sales goals and manage promotional SPOMA allotments as well as T&E budgets.
Communicate school renewals or acquisition status to adidas team & retail reps to help foster/educate the next Generation plan
Leverage on-site relationships to drive sales with outside of athletic department programs (ie. Alumni, rec sports, office of the President) to outfit all departments with adidas products & services.
Leverage NCAA SPOMA school assets to drive High School and team acquisition strategy
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Strong written, verbal, presentation and negotiation skills.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers.
Ability to calculate and understand discounts, proportions, percentages and ratios.
Solid understanding of the NCAA college environment with an understanding of the team dealer network and discount structure
History of working/selling custom uniforms, footwear, headwear, team apparel, hardgoods
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to successfully influence decisions and outcomes both internally and externally that support business decisions, while maintaining healthy, productive, successful relationships.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Ability to multi-task; must have strong time management and organizational skills.
Must have good phone skills and email etiquette.
Technical proficiency with MS applications (Excel & Word) and PowerPoint
The ability to travel frequently via car and occasionally via air
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and a minimum 5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
NCAA experience preferred, either coach, athlete or administrator
Merchandising and forecasting experience is preferred.
