A Facility Planner is responsible for conducting and documenting physical and functional facility analysis to assist our clients in better understanding their space needs, risks and opportunities within their current or projected facility portfolio. Work involves defining operational patterns and mission requirements and developing strategies to support the changing needs over time. A Facility Planner applies data research and interview techniques to gather and analyze data to predict future requirements.
Projects can range from small, medium, or larger-size master planning and facility planning efforts. Responsibilities will include supporting planning recommendations developed by the team, completing DD 1391 forms and background documentation, project validation, and corresponding documentation in compliance with all applicable Federal and DoD policies and criteria. Planning projects may also include Vision Plans, Area Development Plans and Installation Development Plans that require knowledge and application of applicable Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) for planning.
- Planning knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of the philosophies and techniques of federal, urban, regional, military, and/or facilities planning.
- Research skills: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in research, data collection, and interviews.
- Facilitation Skills: Group facilitation skills or interview skills for use with client workshops and team charrette experience.
- Critical Thinking: Solves complex problems; Takes a new perspective using existing solutions.
- Client relations: Proven desire to develop client relationships.
- Deliverable management: Support planning team with deliverable page layouts, various charts/figures, brochures, posters, slide shows, and provision of deliverables in a variety of media formats. Graphic design skills are preferred.
- Communication Skills: Advanced English language skills, both written and verbal, to include technical writing/editing experience and a demonstrated ability to write, edit, and deliver
