Cybersecurity Assessment Manager

We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Assessment Manager to lead and manage the execution of our cybersecurity maturity assessments based on the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF). This role will focus on overseeing the execution of the Cyber Assessment Maturity Program (CAMP) in 2025, including delivering a comprehensive baseline assessment against NIST CSF 2.0. Beyond 2025, this position will evolve to focus on broader initiatives to unify and enhance the value of cybersecurity assessments across the organization, ensuring their alignment with business priorities and risk reduction strategies.

Near Term Responsibilities:

  • Program Management:

    • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of the 2025 NIST CSF 2.0 baseline maturity assessment.

    • Ensure assessment activities adhere to the established methodology, quality standards, and timelines.

  • Team Leadership:

    • Lead a team of assessors, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance feedback.

    • Serve as an escalation point for complex assessment findings or stakeholder challenges.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure assessment alignment with organizational priorities.

    • Present assessment results to executive leadership, articulating both technical details and strategic business implications.

  • Operational Excellence:

    • Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in assessment execution.

    • Support the integration of risk quantification techniques, such as FAIR, into assessment processes.

Long Term Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Alignment:

    • Lead the transition of assessment capabilities toward broader unification initiatives, consolidating insights across cybersecurity assessments.

    • Develop and implement strategies to prioritize and operationalize cybersecurity initiatives based on assessment findings.

  • Risk Management Integration:

    • Champion the integration of risk-informed methodologies to enhance the prioritization and relevance of cybersecurity initiatives.

    • Foster collaboration across teams to ensure assessment outputs are actionable and support broader organizational objectives.

  • Program Evolution:

    • Design and refine scoring models to better inform enterprise cyber strategy and investment prioritization.

    • Collaborate with leadership to ensure assessment programs remain agile and responsive to emerging threats and regulatory requirements

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Manage program budgets and resource allocation to ensure efficient execution of assessment initiatives.

  • Support cross-team collaboration to reduce stakeholder fatigue and improve engagement across cybersecurity programs.

  • Act as a thought leader, staying abreast of industry trends and frameworks to ensure the organization’s assessment capabilities remain leading-edge.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certification

  • At least 4 years of experience in cybersecurity

  • At least 4 years of experience with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework

  • At least 2 years of experience managing cross-functional teams and programs

  • At least 1 year of experience with cybersecurity risk quantification frameworks such as FAIR

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 2+ years of experience with program management methodologies

  • 1+ years of experience with large-scale cybersecurity assessment programs in financial services or regulated industries

  • Familiarity with other assessment frameworks such as FFIEC CAT, ISO 27001,or MITRE ATT&CK

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate technical findings into strategic business insights

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage executive stakeholders

  • CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or FAIR Certification

McLean, VA: $158,400 - $180,800 for Manager, Cyber Risk & Analysis Richmond, VA: $144,000 - $164,400 for Manager, Cyber Risk & AnalysisThis role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
