Responsibilities:
- Proactively driving technical excellence and safety in design within team deliverables.
- Championing opportunities for automation and process efficiencies in everything we do.
- On projects, lead and mentor a small team of designers.
- Generate bottom-up forecasts of project hours for your team or discipline by project. Understand the importance of escalating any scope changes and the impact on delivery.
- Coordinate the delivery of Civils highways design solutions to programme and budget.
- Collaborate with discipline leads globally to provide an integrated and best practice service to our clients and be empowered to challenge today so that we can re-invent tomorrow.
- Line Management. You do not need to line manage to progress at Jacobs. You can pursue our Technologist Career Path and work towards becoming a subject matter expert. However, if People Leadership is of interest, there may be the option to supervise other staff locally and become a valued part of one of our family trees.
- Experience in managing engineering design solutions in transportation.
- Open and inclusive mind set.
- Technical experience of delivering local and/or major highways projects or the land side alignment elements in adjacent markets such as Water or Aviation.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to communicate different design options to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to lead small project teams effectively and support their technical development.
- Thorough understanding of commonly used design standards such as DMRB or international equivalents.
- Sound knowledge of UK H&S legislation and a passion for fostering safety and wellbeing.
- Capable of managing a workload which may be subject to change at short notice
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a global multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience of the financial management and control of projects.
- Attained a relevant professional qualification, for example a degree in engineering /CEng/ IEng or equivalent qualifications or work experience.
