primary focus is identifying and implementing process improvements and cost reductions using accepted Lean and six Sigma methodologies.
What a typical day looks like:
- The Continuous Improvement Engineering role will own the processes for a department. This requires the ability to visualize complex processes and implement process designs capable of meeting our safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
- Facilitates and implements the continuous improvement process (e.g., behaviors, attitude, and culture), working with staff and operations to implement and sustain a continuous improvement program based upon Lean principles that supports meeting plant goals and targets.
- Develop and improve new manufacturing processes using Lean tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Time Observations, Line Balancing, Standard Work, Total Productive Maintenance or other tools as necessary to meet the targets and goals.
- Facilitates, Leads or participates on cross functional Kaizen teams to resolution of problems or achievement of desired goals.
- Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
- Prepare charts, graphs, and diagrams to illustrate workflow, routing, floor layouts, material handling and machine utilization
- Troubleshoot daily manufacturing issues.
- Occasional travel to domestic sites.
- Regularly exposed to the manufacturing plant environment. Potential exposure may include, but is not limited to solvents, dusts, noise, heat, cold, outside weather conditions, cramped spaces, and building construction areas. Potential physical demands include but are not limited to frequent walking and standing, occasional climbing, twisting, stooping, kneeling, lifting, carrying, handling, pushing, and pulling.
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from a four-year college oruniversity; withgreater than 6 years of dedicated Lean Six Sigma role.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification required, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Preferred
- Have strong bias for action, while proving the ability to inspire others.
