As a Manufacturing Engineer within Project Kuiper's Environmental Test team, you will assist with environmental testing of hardware including vibration, shock, thermal, vacuum and acoustic. You will work with the hardware designers, systems engineers and engineering analysts to construct test processes for technicians performing environmental test operations. To be successful in this role you will need to define, procure, setup, and maintain test equipment, fixtures and test support hardware. You will partner with fixture and harnessing teams to ensure component standardization across the program. You will create the foundational production system standards and processes needed to achieve rate production.
Key job responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of support for environmental test equipment and processes- Establish and increase the efficiency of environmental test procedures to maximize output and enable products to rapidly transition from engineering development to rate production
- Develop test automation, data acquisition, and data analysis software to improve test efficiency and cycle times
- Author, refine, and implement test procedures for environmental test equipment.
- Identify improvement opportunities and execute initiatives to maintain safe operations, ensure product quality, reduce lead time and increase productivity
- Troubleshoot and identify ultimate root cause of issues in environmental test processes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence- Enable production test autonomy by challenging requirements, simplifying work procedures, and automating actions- Specify, procure and set up environmental test cell layouts for the production floor.
- Define and implement solutions to optimize and automate environmental testing.
- Work with other engineers to refine test requirements and the methodologies to achieve those requirements.
