Jacobs is seeking ato join our collaborative team in
Baton Rouge, LA. As the Operations Supervisor you’ll work with project staff to oversee process control, compliance reporting, maintenance of equipment and quality control testing as well as ensuring a robust H&S culture. Partnering with other team members and our client you’ll apply knowledge of the principles, methods and tools employed in the general operation of engines, pumps, valves, motors and related equipment, wastewater process control, permit compliance, and safe work practices. You’ll also have the opportunity to: monitor, record and operate the wastewater treatment plant and SCADA system; diagnose operating problems and direct effective correction procedures; prepare required reports and maintain complete recordkeeping procedures; analyze recording instrument readings and laboratory test results and adjust various plant processes accordingly; perform plant inspections to determine efficiency of operations, cleanliness, and maintenance activities including remedial action in emergencies; supervise, evaluate and train employees and perform other duties as required.

Here's what you'll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent and Five (5) plus years of experience in the operation of water or wastewater facilities
  • State of Louisiana Wastewater Certification Level IV, or ability to obtain through reciprocity within 6 months of hire
  • Supervisory experience at a water or wastewater facility
  • Excellent oral and written communications, self-motivation, team-oriented work practices, strong technical problem-solving skills
  • Experience with planning, scheduling operational activities and inventory control
  • Experience working within an approved budget, tracking costs, adjusting activities and optimizing labor and materials
  • Experience with process control of multiple treatment technologies
  • Optimization experience on topics such as chemical usage
  • Experience with process control strategies, high flow weather events, sludge handling, chemical dosing, sampling and testing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Valid State Driver’s License with no major infractions

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Familiar with NPDES, Air Quality, and Stormwater Permits and successful permit compliance
  • Knowledge of safe work practices; principles and methods of biological and chemical sewage analyses, effects and problems of industrial waste in wastewater treatment processes
  • Knowledge of principles of budget preparation and expenditure control
  • Knowledge of laboratory practices
  • Knowledge of computer software including data management systems, HACH WIMS, CMMS and possess the ability to operate plant PLC’s and SCADA systems
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate teams and to respond to emergency situations
  • Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the client, the general public, coworkers, elected and appointed officials
  • Ability to travel/walk to job sites to develop work plans with technicians and management

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

The physical and environmental demands required to perform the essential duties of this position include standing, walking, sitting, coordination, balance and agility demands, which may include the ability to stoop, kneel, squat, grasp, reach, perform repetitive hand movements. Additional demands may involve a specific level of dexterity, grip strength, climbing and cardiorespiratory demands. The work areas may be indoor, outdoor, have loud noise, active machinery, high pressure fluid systems, electrical equipment, confined spaces, heights and depths, fumes, air borne particles, noxious gases, and chemicals. The use of appropriate safety equipment will be mandatory in these areas to prevent hazardous contact.
