Senior Engineering Managerlocated inAustin, TX.
Reporting to theSenior Engineering Manageris Responsible for specifying, designing, installing and maintaining automation equipment, tooling and applications as required to meet specifications.
What a typical day looks like:
- Take leadership during the entire life cycle of automation projects, from concept to feasibility and from fabrication and test to production.
- Define, develop and deploy automation into Flex sites. Design the layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency and safety.
- Design and engineer moderate and complex automation equipment, tooling and applications
- Prepare RFQ’s and solicit quotations from automation suppliers. Evaluate supplier quotations to determine the best combination of technical solution, cost and timing.
- Develop budget and schedule for projects and manage projects to stay within them. Able to quickly cost analyze and work up the financial justification for automating
- Conduct equipment design reviews and provide design guidance to suppliers.
- Manage automation suppliers through all phases of projects.
- Provide on-site support during machine build, debug andtesting/qualification.
- Supervise installation and testing to verify requirements and specifications are met.
- Draft qualification protocols and support equipment qualification activities.
- Develop manufacturing solutions with the best combination of manual, semi-automation and/or full automation. Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow.
- Implement cost effective automation solution.
- Support new product development automation needs, facilitate assembly processes through the implementation of assembly cells and automated equipment at NPI stage and ensure meeting development timeline.
- Interface with customers and functional owners on product development issues regarding automation. Conductdesign-for-automationanalysis and provide detailed recommendations.
- Participate in design reviews and provide status reports as per established schedule.
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to the operation of the automation equipment.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or science.
- Requires a minimum of 5 years of engineering experience, including broad based management and supervision.
- Great leadership and communication skills.
- Experience in an FDA regulated manufacturing environment (Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, Food or Consumer industries)..
- FDA Audit Experience (Preferred).
- Experience with high volume, automated manufacturing (Preferred).
