Your Apprenticeship
As an apprentice, you will be working within ourwithin ourAnimal Healthdivision.
You will learn a diverse and interesting collection of skills and knowledge working with an experienced engineer at our site some of the topics are: -
- Electrical Installation
- Electronic engineering.
- Bespoke parts manufacturing
- Soldering
- Record keeping
- Mechanical engineering
- Machine servicing and repair
- Basic PLC maintenance
After training and some experience has been gained you would together with the site engineer be responsible for all the tasks listed above. You would also learn a variety of skills and techniques at a basic mechanical level via hands on training.
You would also be able to:
- carry out planned, unplanned and preventative maintenance procedures on mechanical plant and equipment.
- replace, repair, or remove components in mechanical plant and equipment and ensure its return to operational condition.
- diagnose and determine the cause of faults in mechanical plant and equipment.
- monitor and control the operation and performance of the plant and equipment.
- position, assemble, install, and dismantle electrical plant and equipment, which may include motors, switchgear, cables, and conductors, to agreed specifications.
- carry out planned, unplanned and preventative maintenance procedures on electrical plant and equipment.
- Manufacture of bespoke equipment when required using various hand tools plus metal and plastic working machinery.
What qualification will I be studying during my apprenticeship?
- You will be studying towards the maintenance and operations engineering technician Apprenticeship Level 3, with a specific skill towards Electromechanical bias.
How will the apprenticeship be structured?
- You will spend 4 days a week working as an employee within the engineering team and 1 day a week studying towards your qualification.
- As you approach the end of your studies, you will then participate in what’s called the ‘End Point Assessment’. You will be required to travel to a facility to participate in in-person exams. Our company will provide assistance in providing travel and accommodation.
Requirements
Level 2 English and Mathematics
Previous experience in the use of hand tools would be an advantage.
