As a Lead Credit Officer within the Wealth Management (WM) Credit Risk team at JPMorgan Chase, you will be at the center of keeping our firm strong and resilient. You will help us grow our business in a responsible way by anticipating new and emerging risks, and using your expert judgement to solve real-world challenges that impact our company, customers, and communities. You will manage credit exposure, with a primary focus on credit risk management for clients covered by the JPMorgan Advisors business. You will be accountable for the management of credit risks arising from counterparties, trading, investments, industries, geographies, and clients. You will partner effectively with clients, business partners, and risk colleagues, to mitigate risk while structuring and approving credit transactions. You will be responsible for the approval of new and existing extensions of credit, in addition to analysis of credit opportunities, structuring transactions, negotiating, and reviewing terms, conducting due diligence, and identifying potential risks for counterparties, issuers and/or clients. You will manage assigned portfolio within acceptable credit quality and risk appetite.
Job responsibilities
- Manage credit risk within acceptable risk appetite and loss tolerances
- Understand Credit Risk appetite
- Approve credit risk exposure within authorized limits and facilitate escalated approvals when necessary
- Assign risk ratings, LGDs, and other risk metrics across the portfolio
- Maintain satisfactory Audits
- Ensure that Risk exceptions in the portfolio are appropriately managed
- Identify and monitor concentrations, trends and themes in the portfolio
- Prepare Portfolio Review presentation
- Partner with Underwriting team and make credit decisions that incorporates underwriter input
- Partner with Business to credibly challenge opportunities / new initiatives while promoting a culture of Risk discipline
- Participate to strengthen Risk Policies / Underwriting Guidelines / procedures in partnership and work with Risk Policy team
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related area
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience, with experience structuring complex credit transactions and in managing marketable secured credit exposure, or other related experience
- Strong analytical skills with proven ability to analyze credit structures, identify and mitigate credit risks, and make informed decisions
- Attention to detail and ability to learn complex processes that affect various functions and business units within Credit Risk Management
- Ability to identify problems and propose solutions
- Strong sense of accountability with ability to operate independently with confidence, to interact credibly with business stakeholders and to build strong partnerships across a global organization
- Ability to work effectively and respectfully with others to foster an inclusive environment
- Highly organized, self-motivated and hard working with exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong technical (including Excel and PPT) skills
