ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Audible’s “Next Chapter” Returnship Program is a paid full-time internship for experienced professionals returning to the workforce after taking time off for caregiving. The program is open to professionals who have at least 5 years of professional experience and have been out of the paid workforce for at least one year to focus on caring for a child or other dependent. If you meet these criteria, we welcome you to apply. ABOUT YOU
As a Software Development Engineer, you will...- Identify and resolve software defects through code review, log analysis, metrics examination, debugging, and other troubleshooting methods
- Apply computer science, engineering, and analysis principles to solve problems effectively
- Continuously enhance testability, operational excellence (OE), and documentation for owned software components- Participate in the interview process and provide mentorship to fellow engineersABOUT AUDIBLE

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience with at least one modern language such as Java, Python, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
- 1+ years of relevant software development experience.
- Experience writing clear, maintainable and extensible code


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Ability to solve problems in complex and ambiguous situations
- Ability to work independently with little supervision and successfully resolve ambiguity
- Willingness to learn, be open minded to new ideas and different opinions yet knowing when to stop, analyze, and reach a decision
- Ability to provide information to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike and guide them to confidently informed decisions
- Prior use of AWS technologies at scale in a production environment
- Candidates with strong interests and academic qualifications/research focus in: Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, and/or Generative AI.
- Familiarity with big data technologies (Spark, Ray, Hive, etc.)
- Experience working with Agile methodologies
- Proficient in a broad range of data structures and algorithms, knowing when it is (and isn’t) appropriate to use them
- 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new systems
