We are looking to hire a Principal Software Engineer- AI Platform to join our team. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to work on multiple levels of the AI software stack, including the fundamental abstractions, programming models, compilers, runtimes,and APIs to enable large scale training and inferencing of models.

This is an Individual contributor roleas a senior technical leaderit requiressetting the technical direction for the projects in the area, and hands on software design and development skills.looking for someone who has a demonstrated history of solving hard technical problems and is motivated to tackle the hardest problems in building a full end-to-end AI stack.  An entrepreneurial approach and ability to take initiative and move fast are essential.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

    • OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years of software development experience
  • 5+ years' experience with C/C++
  • + years of technical leadership experience in a software team

  • This position will berequiredto pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A technical background and solid foundation in software engineering principles and architecture design
  • Ability to planandinfluence technical designs on projects that will have potentiallong-termimpact to Microsoft.
  • Exposure to Deep Neural Network training and inference and experience in one or more deep learning frameworks (PyTorch,TensorFlow, ONNX,etc.)
  • Cross-team collaboration skills and the desire to collaborate in a team of researchers and developers
  • Solid communicationskills (both written and oral)

Software Engineering IC6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
