JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Commodity Quality Engineer position is a member of the Commodity Quality Assurance Team and will be located in Spokane, WA, USA in office. The Senior Commodity Quality Engineer is recognized as an expert in the principles and application of quality assurance and compliance in the field of supplier quality management. In this role, you will ensure suppliers and their commodities meet F5 requirements.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a member of the Commodity Quality team, you will perform supplier quality engineering activities for a family of commodities from Product Development through End-of-Life.

You will work closely with cross functional teams, including Product Development, sourcing & supply chain, Global Services Logistics, and manufacturing quality team to meet F5’s Supplier Management Strategy. You have the ability to identify risks related to commodity, supplier, design, and manufacturing.

  • Support F5’s end-to-end supply chain system.
  • Participate in establishing a Commodity & Supplier Quality Assurance System which ensures suppliers have developed and executed product / process quality plans to insure compliance of product to all established specifications.
  • Directly interfacing with suppliers to F5 and support manufacturing partners supplier quality teams.
  • Review and approve new part and supplier additions by assuring that suppliers and parts have been properly validated and qualified.
  • Implement metrics to drive continuous improvement, provide feedback and report the status of supplier product performance.
  • Conduct data analysis to assess supplier performance and risk.
  • Prepare and present supplier performance during quarterly business reviews.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • A strong understanding of quality management system and quality principles is expected.
  • Demonstrated ability to strategically organize and complete projects, objectives and tasks.
  • Strong leadership, problem solving, and written/verbal communication skills are required.
  • The candidate must have a track record that demonstrates he/she: 1) is a highly motivated team player; 2) consistently meets his/her commitments; 3) success at building positive, productive relationships; and 4) has the ability to motivate and inspire change;
  • Help represent Quality on cross-functional working teams, applying strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet quality, accuracy, and timeliness objectives.
  • Demonstrated capability of applying risk management concepts and tools.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) is required. Experience in Agile PLM, Microsoft Visio, Tableau, SQL, and JMP is a plus.
  • Some experience with quality metrics, dashboards, analysis, and improvement programs.
  • Experience leading and working with globally diverse and mutli-cultural teams.
  • Experience conducting onsite and remote supplier audits.
  • Domestic and International travel. Travel required is approximately 20 - 30%. Travel may be for weeks at a time.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of 10 years in a Quality Engineering or Manufacturing Process Engineering role for a Technology company which designs and building systems and printed circuit assemblies.
  • A minimum of 5 years working in a Supplier Quality role.
  • Working with multiple contract manufacturers to manage and improve supplier commodity quality.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline. Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • ASQ certification and expertise with quality tools such as DFx, DoE, FMEA, SPC, CPk, and measurement systems analysis, Six Sigma & ISO 9000 is desired.
  • Well-developed teamwork and collaboration skills and ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • If onsite must travel to the office for F5 corporate required number of days.
  • Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table. Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
  • Duties may require working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
  • Domestic and International travel. Travel required is approximately 20 - 30%. Travel may be for weeks at a time.

The annual base pay for this position is: $110,365.00 - $165,547.00
