We’re seeking Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Geotechnical and Coastal Engineers and Architects to help us deliver technical solutions for our client. As a FEMA Engineer, you’ll manage the Public Assistance grant delivery process (from applicant assignment to exit briefing) for an average amount of eight (8) individual applicants simultaneously. The number of applicants will vary from approximately 1 to 15 depending on the number of projects and complexity of projects that an applicant claims. You’ll ensure program delivery in a timely, professional, customer-centric manner that meets all assigned applicant’s recovery priorities. You’ll review information gathered during the preliminary damage assessment (PDA) for assigned applicants, then conduct exploratory calls to gather information from applicants using assigned templates. You’ll also establish regular meetings with the applicant to facilitate the program delivery and recovery process, and schedule site inspections with the applicants, then coordinate them with the Site Inspector Task Force Leader. Most importantly, you’ll actively participate in regular FEMA meetings by providing updates on work status, evaluate claims and make recommendations to FEMA as to whether the claim is eligible. For our FEMA client, qualified candidates must be U.S. citizens, able to clear Department of Homeland Security background check for security clearance level of “Public Trust”, and open to working 8-12 hours per day for 5-6 days per week. You’ll potentially deploy to the field in remote disaster conditions, and most of the job responsibilities will be conducted in a FEMA office. Due to the nature of this type of unpredictable work, you must also have the ability to mobilize within 24-48 hours if ever needed to deploy, commit to up to 6 months or longer on a disaster deployment, and be flexible for contingent type of project work.

Please Note: This is an hourly paid position and is non-exempt.

Here's what you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Coastal Engineering, or other engineering field.

• A minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience with professional licensure OR 10 years of relevant engineering experienceis required in their field of expertise, preferably with roads, bridges, water/wastewater, coastal, HVAC systems, electrical transmission, buildings and/or structures.

• Must be a U.S. citizen and be able to pass a FBI background check.

• Must have a clean driving record and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.

• Must have a current valid drivers license.

• Ability to mobilize within 24-48 hours, commit to a minimum 90-day assignment in remote locations and disaster conditions.

• Ability to work well across multiple teams and meet critical deadlines.

• Ability to stand or walk for long periods of times on varying terrain.

• Flexibility to work in different locations as needed by FEMA.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.

• Computer Proficiency--in this role you must be competent and fully proficient at operating a computer, finding files, editing documents in adobe and word, working with Excel spreadsheets, ability to effectively interface with applications in web browsers, working knowledge of saving, renaming, editing, organizing files and moving between iPhone and PC seamlessly.

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

• Professional PE License.

5 years with PE or Architectural professional registration, 10 years without PE or architectural professional registration

• Significant focus and experience in providing excellent customer service, attention to detail and must have excellent communication (writing and verbal) skills.

• Prior experience in the PA Program: Site Inspectors, Program Delivery Managers, Public Assistance Coordinator (PAC) Crew Leader, Project Specialist, Debris Specialist, Debris Monitor, FEMA-certified Trainer, Hazard Mitigation Specialist (Sections 404 and 406), or Long-Term Community Recovery Program Specialist.

• Trainings completed in Program Delivery Manager training, Site Inspector training, Public Assistance Operations I (PA Ops I), Public Assistance Operations II (PA Ops II), Project Worksheet (PW) Development, Cost Estimating Format (CEF), Debris Management/Operations, and/or 406 Hazard Mitigation.
