In this role you’ll be charged with designing water and wastewater pump stations, treatment facilities/processes for water and wastewater plants, conveyance systems, technical writing, and construction drawing and specification production. We’ll have you use your experience to design process facilities (primary, secondary, tertiary, and solids treatment systems), rotating equipment (centrifugal pumps, blowers), piping systems, valves, and appurtenances for in plant process piping, chemical systems, hydraulic studies, and pump stations for water and wastewater, including pipe sizing calculations and selection of pump type.In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work with our global teams of specialized design professionals. We'll Expect You To:
- Be responsible for design and specification of facilities and mechanical systems for water and wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities.
- From planning studies to final design, the senior mechanical engineer will lead in preparing design documents including plans, specifications, details, and support of cost estimators for complex projects.
- Manage several different assignments simultaneously.
- Provide hydraulic calculations for pump and piping systems.
- Provide piping system design for water and wastewater systems.
- Provide quality control and quality assurance of mechanical engineering plans, specifications, and estimates in the water market.
- Perform field visits and conduct site investigations for public and private clients.
- Interface with clients to understand their needs and develop preferred solutions.
- Provide services during construction including submittal reviews, response to Contractor’s request for information, review and approval of change orders, and preparation of record drawings.
- Collaborate with multi-discipline teams across multiple office locations.
- Collaborate with our global team across different time zones and occasionally work non-traditional hours to effectively connect with international colleagues to support our local clients.
- Develop basis of design reports.
- Prepare proposals and interview with clients.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Registered California Professional Engineer (P.E.) with ability to obtain reciprocity as needed, or licensure in another state with ability to obtain California PE within 6 months.
- At least 8 years of experience in process mechanical engineering (preferably water/wastewater) for municipal or industrial clients.
- Detailed mechanical design experience for water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and conveyance systems.
- Experience with water/wastewater equipment for municipal or industrial clients.
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, hydraulic modeling software, and Bluebeam Revu.
- Strong time management skills.
Ideally, you’ll also have:
- Experience with Design-Build, CMAR/CM-GC and/or EPC projects.
