As a Global Construction Accounting Analyst within the Corporate Sector Controllers team, you will be responsible for the financial review of capital project expenditures, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP and Firm policies. You will communicate with business partners to resolve outstanding items, maintain accurate documentation, perform ad hoc analysis, and carry out month-end close responsibilities. Job Responsibilities
- Review capital project expenditures to ensure accounting treatment is appropriate and in accordance with GAAP and Firm policies, including timely recording of fixed assets
- Obtain thorough understanding of assigned responsibilities, fixed asset accounting concepts, detailed knowledge of operations that affect our clients, overall operating transactions flow, and all corporate and/or vendor systems and interfaces that affect the timely processing of assigned responsibilities
- Communicate with business partners to facilitate resolution of outstanding items; partners will include internal customers and external service providers
- Identify exceptions to standards, determining underlying causes and escalating to the supervisor and/or partners as appropriate
- Maintain accurate documentation to support transaction processing in compliance with Corporate Accounting and Project Accounting practices and policies
- Perform ad hoc analysis or other responsibilities as assigned by manager
- Perform month end close responsibilities including journal entries, perform monthly reconciliations and financial analysis
- Review of Construction in Progress (CIP) to ensure propriety of balances outstanding
- Perform monthly reconciliation of projects and accounts, investigations of variances and providing explanations
- Identify exceptions to standards, determining underlying causes and escalating to the supervisor and/or partners as appropriate
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Bachelors' degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience required in accounting or finance
- Strong analytical and financial skills with a track record of execution against deliverables
- Strong attention to detail and a structured mindset with process/continuous improvement and innovative thinking
- Self-starter with initiative, ability to take ownership and work independently as well as contribute to the broader team
- Ability to multi-task, work collaboratively and succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with automated financial systems (SAP) and worksheet modeling tools (Excel)
