Lead Strategic Sourcing Specialist – Logistics (Warehouse, Rail, Assets & Services)
You will report directly to our Sr Director of Logistics and work out of our Morris Plains, NJ, Houston, TX or Charlotte, NC location on a hybrid work schedule.
In this role, you will have a significant impact on the overall global supply chain strategy of the organization by leading the development and execution of detailed category strategies and strategic agreements with suppliers, optimizing total cost of ownership, service, and working capital and mitigating risks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement global and regional sourcing strategies for logistics categories, including Rail freight, Warehousing, Logistics Assets, and Logistics Services.
- Develop and lead the RFI/RFQ process for logistics services, evaluating bids and selecting providers that align with AM’s strategic goals. Develop bid cadence and ensure qualification and efficient onboarding/transition of suppliers.
- Define negotiation strategy, including supplier profiles, commercial negotiation targets, total cost of ownership modeling, and negotiate contracts, rates, and service level agreements with logistics providers to optimize cost, delivery service, quality and working capital.
- Analyze market trends, capacity, and pricing to identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements. Provide market intelligence and analysis including benchmarking and should-cost.
- Assess opportunities for commodities including spend segmentation, commodity maturity, cost drivers, and supply market analysis.
- Ensure adequate capacity is in line with forecasts and growth objectives.
- Monitor supplier performance, ensuring adherence to service level agreements, compliance requirements, and safety standards.
- Lead supplier segmentation and manage relationships with key logistics partners and suppliers, fostering long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships. Conduct quarterly business reviews with strategic suppliers.
- Develop and manage the supply base, including supply base rationalization.
- Accountable for full contract lifecycle management and procure-to-pay compliance.
- Identify, engage, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to capture business requirements and align on category strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance logistics efficiency, reduce carbon footprint, and support sustainability objectives.
- Ensure adherence and compliance with company and procurement policies and procedures.
- Provide leadership and guidance on logistics sourcing policies, ensuring alignment with company-wide goals and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and present sourcing performance reports, total cost of ownership analysis, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
- Support Annual Operations Plan (AOP) and 5-year business strategy development.
This position is intended to convey to the new, independent company, to be named Solstice Advanced Materials when the separation occurs. This is expected to occur in late 2025 or early 2026.
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Business.
- 8+ years of experience in Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, or Logistics.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing logistics categories, including Rail Freight, Warehousing, and Logistics Assets, preferably with a manufacturer/shipper.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable contracts and reducing transportation, warehouse, and logistics assets and services costs.
- Deep understanding of global logistics markets, rail carrier and warehouse operations, logistics assets, and regulatory requirements.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage data to drive decision-making.
