Production Planner
The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
In this role as a
Production Planner , you will manage supply chain product flow to support customer requirements. Schedules procurement and manufacturing for a specified group of products. Reviews material flow parameters such as order quantity, lot size, make cycle frequency, replenishment interval, and recommends appropriate levels to support the business/customer requirements. Manages raw material and semi-finished inventory buffer quantities. Monitors and reports capacity requirements, special order and stock service levels.

- Lead cross functional projects across the business to effectively drive change in service, cost, and inventory.
- Develops and maintains operating rhythms to ensure smooth supply chain operations, aligning supply with demand.
- Provides a high degree of planning analysis to support decision making.
- Publishes and presents service and inventory metrics and results.
- Identifies and leads projects that improve supply chain speed and inventory investment. Review and reports on project progress with management.
- Works closely with the business unit to understand customer requirements and forecasts. Works closely with manufacturing to ensure alignment to business requirements by setting and maintaining sufficient inventory levels and lead times. Manages the S&OP process.
- Actively manage working and non-working inventories in assigned businesses to maintain compliance and achieve inventory investment targets.
- Utilize Supply Chain tools and processes such as DMPT, Peoplesoft and Dynamic Supply Chain Planner
- Utilize Lean Six Sigma methodologies to improve service, inventory turns, and non-working inventory
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university
- One (1) combined year of experience in supply chain, transportation, logistics, manufacturing, production, and/or customer service
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university
- APICS (American Production and Inventory Control Society) certification is preferred. If not complete at the time this position is assumed, the certification will become part of the employee professional development plan as agreed between management and the employee.
- APICS certification or willingness to pursue
- Six Sigma Green Belt project experience and/or certification
- Experience with SAP a plus
- Experience in Lean Scheduling or Lean Manufacturing
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft office – (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
