Diverse role in IFRS, ESG, internal control & audit readiness

As a global leader in assurance, tax, transaction, and advisory realms, we invite experienced professionals to augment our corporate reporting and accounting advisory team. This role delves deeper than traditional financial accounting, offering an all-encompassing portfolio of client services. You will grapple with complex accounting scenarios such as GAAP conversions, business combinations and legal restructurings. Moreover, your expertise will integrate financial accounting with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors, adhering to guidelines from the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and IFRS, and ensuring audit readiness and robust internal control.

Your role will involve providing advice and support to clients with all kinds of their accounting queries, including business combinations, GAAP conversions, legal restructurings, and non-financial reporting (ESG). As a team member with specialized knowledge, you will advise clients on the application of accounting standards in complex (international) transactions and reporting matters.

You will work closely within the team to provide clients with:

  • Accounting advice on financial reporting matters such as technical accounting, design or review of accounting policy manuals and financial statements under IFRS
  • Ensure the integrity of accounting records for completeness and accuracy
  • Advice on non-financial reporting, including ESRS and ISSB standards.
  • Assisting clients to establish control over their processes and preparing for financial audits.

You will develop strong relationships with clients and work collaboratively to achieve their goals while demonstrating your ability to deliver high-quality service. This role offers an excellent opportunity to expand your technical accounting and financial reporting knowledge and skills. You will act as the IFRS specialist, collaborating with audit and advisory teams on various projects across industries, including complex business transactions. You will be deployed widely, so that you will have a steep learning curve and you are widely employable.

Job requirements - Where do you start if you want to change the world?

We are looking for an ambitious, proactive and self-starter professional with:

  • 3-6 years of relevant working experience in audit, accounting, finance, business administration, or related fields.
  • Very good IFRS knowledge or (in case when you have approx. 3 years of working experience) an interest in IFRS, strong technical skills, ability to research IFRS technical issues and recognized risk management ability.
  • Professional acumen in analysing complex accounting issues and providing solutions in accordance with the relevant accounting standards and legislation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch and/or English and the ability to explain specialized concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Results-oriented approach with keen attention to high quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under tight timelines.
  • Ability to work independently, coordinate projects with audit teams and clients, as well as other involved stakeholders.
  • Experience with non-financial reporting is a pre.
  • Excellent academic background including a bachelor and/or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or other appropriate academic major.

Application procedure

The selection process generally consists of 2 interview rounds and/or a Business case. An (online) assessment and pre-employment screening are also part of the application process. Depending on the job level, the pre-employment screening may include the following components: Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG), or if a VOG cannot be applied for in the Netherlands, a Criminal Background Check from the country where you currently reside or where you have resided in the past five years, an integrity questionnaire, verification of ID, diplomas and/or work experience, and consultation of the central insolvency register.
