About the Role

Manage the Global Product Stewardship function. Integrate Product Stewardship requirements, programs, and tools into business practice in alignment with other product development, manufacturing, and distribution strategies and projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance to Product Stewardship regulations and customer requirements (tenders). Current legislation may include, but is not limited to: REACH, RoHS, POPs, CA Prop 65, US Conflict Minerals, and EPR (WEEE, Battery, Packaging)
  • Leads internal Product Stewardship compliance checks and is accountable for identification and closure of compliance deficiencies.
  • Reports accurate, timely, verifiable data to meet external requirements.
  • Identifies and analyses emerging requirements and trends, evaluates impact to businesses, and develops strategies to address. Communicates and escalates issues as needed.
  • Develops, implements, and manages global program in partnership with divisional product stewardship leads for coordination, prioritization, tracking, and communication of/education on Product Stewardship requirements.
  • Advances company Product Stewardship objectives with external agencies, trade associations, peer companies, and governmental organizations.
  • Develops and promotes best Product Stewardship practices and strategy across all divisions and regions to minimize product/service environmental impact while maximizing value and meeting corporate goals.
  • Initiates or contributes to Product Stewardship improvements to benefit businesses.
  • Collaborates effectively across businesses, functions, and regions. Provides cross-functional education, training, and mentorship. Develops global processes and tools were beneficial.
  • Builds and leads a capable team to support growing Product Stewardship needs at Boston Scientific.

Required Qualifications and Competencies

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in environment science, chemistry, chemical engineering, consumer safety, toxicology, or similar required.
  • 8+ years of Product Stewardship, Regulatory, Operational or Research & Development experience. Post-graduate education / degree may contribute toward years of experience.
  • Medical device development and/or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience managing restricted substance requirements, EPA laws, and EPR programs.
  • Experience working with and leading cross-functional business unit teams.
  • Experience influencing external requirements preferred.
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment across professional disciplines.
  • Excellent leadership, project management, and team building skills.
  • Ability to think strategically as well as lead and execute on key projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to a range of stakeholders (including senior management), build relationships, collaborate, and manage teams.
  • Must use sound judgement and ability to build and maintain relationships with individuals and in teams.

Compensation fornon-exempt (hourly), non-sales rolesmay also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
